Each Conference has an elected bishop. Our bishop as a member of the Greater New Jersey Annual Conference is the dynamic Rev. John Schol.
District Superintendent - Raritan Valley District of GNJAC
Each Conference is broken down into Districts. Each District has a District Superintendent. Our Church is a part of the Raritan Valley District which includes areas such as Cranford (obviously), Westfield, Edison, Scotch Plains, Watchung, Warren, Clinton, Bridgewater etc. Our D.S. is turnaround leader, Rev. Sang Won Doh.
Pastor - Cranford United Methodist Church
Each District is made up of local churches. Our congregation has been the Cranford Charge since the 1860's! In the UMC, pastors of local churches are assigned or appointed by the bishop and district superintendents. Our pastor is the caring and friendly Rev. HyunHui who was appointed to CUMC on July 1, 2022.
Our United Methodist Faith (Just a Few Facts)
The heart of United Methodism is a relationship with the living God through Jesus Christ and sharing the mission of God to redeem the world.
The United Methodist Church affirms a triune (three-in-one) God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Some United Methodists prefer less gender-specific language, so you may hear Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer.
An emphasis of The United Methodist Church is its connectional nature. Every United Methodist congregation is interconnected throughout the denomination and throughout the world.
The cross and flame is the official insignia of The United Methodist Church, and can be found in just about every county in the United States, along with nations in Africa, Europe and the Philippines.
Both men and women can be ordained (become clergy members) in The United Methodist Church.
